At Juliet Books, our used book collection is curated with the same care as everything else on our shelves. We’re looking for beautiful, interesting, readable books with plenty of life left in them – the kind you’d be delighted to stumble across on a slow afternoon downtown.
From beloved novels and children’s favorites to unexpected nonfiction, literary gems, and gift-worthy editions, our used books help make the shop feel layered, lived-in, and full of discovery. Because sometimes the best book in the store isn’t brand new – it’s just been waiting for its next reader.

When Do We Buy Books?
Have a small stack of books to sell? If you’re bringing in about 30 books or fewer, you’re welcome to stop by any time during our regular open hours. For larger collections, please email us first before bringing books to the store so we can make sure we’re ready for you.
What Types of Books Do We Buy?
We’re pretty selective about the used books we bring into the shop. We look for gently used titles, with special interest in literary fiction, science, psychology, sci-fi/fantasy, and cultural studies – but we’re always happy to take a look through any collection. We generally prefer full-sized paperbacks over hardcovers or mass-market paperbacks, and we rarely buy textbooks or old/antiquarian books. We do not buy Advanced Reader Copies.
What do we offer for used books?
The amount we offer in store credit or cash depends on a few things: the book’s condition, our current inventory, customer demand, and the price we expect it to sell for in the store. On average, we offer 33% of the predicted selling price in store credit – usually around $2–$4 per adult title – or 25% of the predicted selling price in cash, usually around $1–$3 per adult title.
How Does Store Credit Work?
Store credit may be applied toward 100% of used book purchases. It cannot be used toward the purchase of new books.
