Join us on Saturday, September 19 as Juliet Books celebrates our Grand Opening in the heart of downtown Cary! We’re filling the day with books, art and some very special local guests – with author signings, conversation, local history and an evening art show.
Come for one event or spend the day with us. Browse the shelves, meet authors and artists, talk books with fellow readers and help us celebrate the beginning of this new chapter.
Grand Opening Schedule
10:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. | Poetry Fox
Meet Poetry Fox – aka Durham poet Chris Vitiello – a giant fox with a vintage typewriter and a knack for turning just about any word into a poem. Give him a word, and he’ll bang out a custom, on-demand poem written just for you. Poems are available for a small fee and are perfect for readers of all ages.
10:30–11:30 a.m. | Ryan T. Bliss
Meet Cary native Ryan T. Bliss – author, singer, songwriter and creator with more than 1 million YouTube subscribers. Ryan brings his signature humor and heart to Mooseclumps and Other Poems, a delightfully absurd collection of poems and hand-drawn illustrations. He’ll be at Juliet Books signing books and meeting little readers.
1:00–2:00 p.m. | Meagan Church
Join us for a special author conversation with Meagan Church, author of The Mad Wife. Meagan will talk about the novel and its exploration of identity, motherhood, expectation and the carefully constructed appearances of 1950s suburban life, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
Meagan Church’s 1:00 p.m. author event is free, but advance registration is required. All other Grand Opening activities are open to everyone – no registration needed.
4:00–5:00 p.m. | Dr. Katherine Loflin
Longtime Cary resident Dr. Katherine Loflin – known as “The City Doctor” – is the author of Hidden History of Cary, which brings to life the lesser-known people, places and stories behind the town we call home. Stop in to meet Katherine, talk local history and have your copy signed.
6:00–7:00 p.m. | Amy Yeager Jorge
End the day with local artist Amy Yeager Jorge, creator of Amy’s Creative Corner. Amy creates meaningful artwork inspired by animals, nature and the beauty found in everyday spaces. She’ll host a special art show, share the stories and inspiration behind her work, chat with guests and sign pieces throughout the evening.
